Over $120,000 raised for the recovery of the Taree Showground and Taree High School Ag Plot.
More than $120,000 has been raised to support the recovery of the Taree Showground and the Taree High School Ag Plot, following the devastation caused by the May 2025 floods.
Recognising the scale of the damage and the long road to recovery ahead, the RAS Foundation quickly launched an End-of-Financial-Year fundraiser and reached out to its community, raising over $60,000 in just three weeks.
To help amplify the impact and stand with the Taree Show Society and Taree High School, the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS of NSW) matched every dollar donated up to $65,000, bringing the total tally to just over $120,000.
Taree Show Society President Jane Davis said she was overwhelmed with the show of support.
“The recent devastating flood event caused significant damage at the Taree Showground and left us in a state of distress and uncertainty, but the RAS and RAS Foundation raising funds for our society has been a beacon of hope for us,” shared Davis.
“The generosity and kindness shown have truly touched our hearts and provided us with the much-needed resources to begin the process of rebuilding and recovery.”
RAS Foundation Manager Cecilia Logan echoed Davis' sentiment, thanking the wider community for their quick response to the call for help.
“We couldn’t be happier with the response from the community,” Logan said.
“Donations came in from right across the state - from our own RAS Foundation and RAS of NSW community to former Taree High School students, local organisations that use the Showground, and other Show Societies who pledged funding despite being volunteer-run organisations themselves. It’s been phenomenal to witness such unity and generosity.
“We can’t thank our community enough for standing behind this fundraiser and for standing behind the Taree community.”
Beyond financial support, the RAS Foundation has also partnered with Good360 to source new, unused furniture and bedding to share with those connected to the Taree Show Society to help replace furniture lost in the floods.
Over $100k worth of new furniture has already arrived and been distributed, with another $188k worth of mattresses and beds due to arrive before the end of July.
