Less than one week left to enter the 2025 Sydney Royal Distilled Spirits Show
The countdown is on for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW’s (RAS) 2025 Sydney Royal Distilled Spirits Show, with entries closing in less than one week.
Running for the second year under distilled spirits expert and Chair of Judges, Stuart Gregor, the competition offers distilleries across Australia the chance to put their drops to the test against a panel of the country’s best judges.
In addition to gaining industry recognition and a coveted Sydney Royal medal, the competition also offers distillers the chance to receive tailored feedback on their products.
Chair of Judges, Stuart Gregor, said competitions like the Sydney Royal play a vital role in allowing distillers to benchmark and refine their products based on expert evaluation.
“As an industry, we must consistently adapt and evolve. Benchmarking products against industry standards, peers, and competitors provides great insight for a business and allows us, as an industry, to celebrate exceptionally well-crafted spirits,” Gregor said.
“The Australian spirits industry has seen remarkable growth over the past 15 years, but distilled spirits have long played a part in the rich history of Sydney Royal, with gin and rum being entered in miscellaneous drinks classes as far back as the 1870s.
“So, while the Sydney Royal Distilled Spirits Show is only in its second year of competition, the RAS has been championing Australian spirits for centuries. And this competition allows exhibitors to be a part of that history.”
Forty different classes are available for exhibitors to enter across the categories of gin, vodka, whisky, rum, brandy, liqueur, alternative spirit, ready to drink, and non-alcoholic spirits, with 15 champion trophies up for grabs.
“Our role as judges is twofold – to acknowledge the best Producers and help Exhibitors hopefully improve through our feedback and also to let consumers know who we think are the best Producers and which products to look out for,” said Gregor.
Entries to the Sydney Royal Distilled Spirits Show close on Wednesday, 25 June. Distillers from across Australia are encouraged to get their entries in for their chance to take home a medal.
Judging for the 2025 competition will take place on 8 - 9 September, with the champion winners to be announced on 16 September.
