Final call for entries: NSW producers encouraged to put their products to the test in the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show

Posted on 13 June 2025

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW is encouraging producers and small businesses from across the country to showcase their finest creations and gain national recognition by entering the prestigious Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, with entries closing next Wednesday, 18 June.

The competition encourages the continued growth of the Australian fine food industry by offering producers the chance to benchmark their products and be recognised and rewarded for high-quality produce, with competitions available for Aquaculture, Branded Meat, Pasta, Oil & Olives, Professional Bakery, Smallgoods & Charcuterie, and Specialty Foods.

To keep up with the evolving industry, an exciting new innovation class will be introduced this year, which will allow producers to enter a new product, that is not yet commercially available but is in the advanced stages of development, and receive valuable feedback before it hits the shelves.

“Australian producers are constantly evolving to meet changing consumer expectations” said Sydney Royal Fine Food Chair, Michael Bullen.

“As an organisation committed to supporting Australian producers in delivering excellence, it’s essential that we also grow and adapt in step with consumer and industry trends.

“In the past few years, we have introduced a plant-based category, to shine a spotlight on the incredible innovation taking place in that sector, as well as several other classes and new champion titles that reflect areas where the industry is growing.

“This year, we are excited to welcome a new innovation class, offering producers an invaluable opportunity to highlight their creativity, while receiving constructive and meaningful feedback to help refine and elevate their product.”

Judged on everything from appearance and flavour to texture and technical merit, each exhibit will undergo a day of rigorous inspection by some of the best in the business before being awarded a gold, silver or bronze medal depending on their score. Gold medal winning products will then go on to battle it out for  the champion medal in the corresponding category.

“Our judges bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the entire food and production sectors, from chefs to retailers and marketers; the competition provides unique access to some of the best minds and tastebuds in the business,” said Bullen.

Entries for the 2025 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show will close next Wednesday, 18th June with organisers encouraging interested exhibitors to get entries in.

The Sydney Royal Fine Food Show judging will take place from 12-29 August at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, with Champion Awards announced at a special function on 10 September.

To continue its mission to support Australian-grown produce and champion Australian agriculture, the RAS will once again hold the requirement that all entered products are comprised of at least 85% Australian-grown ingredients, a requirement that began in 2021.
