Posted on 15 APRIL 2026

The Sydney Royal Easter Show (the Show) continues to honour the pinnacle of agricultural excellence with the presentation of two of its most prestigious awards — the Urquhart Perpetual Trophy and the Hordern Perpetual Trophy.

Taking out the top prizes was Roslyn’s Kaleid Wilcoola stud, which claimed the prestigious Urquhart Perpetual Trophy, while Boyup Brook’s, Venturon Livestock and Loomberah’s Franco & Company Pty Ltd studs won the Hordern Perpetual Trophy.

Steeped in tradition and synonymous with excellence, these trophies are one of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW’s (RAS) most prestigious awards, recognising the very best in livestock judging and showcasing the dedication, skill, and passion of Australia’s leading cattle exhibitors.

With almost 1,400 entries in the Beef Cattle Competition represented across 20 different beef breeds, exhibitors proudly showcased an outstanding lineup of high-quality livestock at this year's show.

The winners for both awards were announced on Sunday, 5th April 2026, with each receiving a substantial cash prize along with the prestige, honour, and coveted bragging rights that accompanies such distinguished achievements.

The Urquhart Perpetual Trophy winners Mrs Karen Reid & Mr Peter Reid of Roslyn, walked away with a grand total of $12,000. Mr and Mrs Reid described the recognition as a true honour and a rewarding acknowledgment of their hard work.

“Winning the Urquhart is something that we have always dreamed of and to have the judges recognise all of our hard work is a dream come true. To reach the pinnacle of having the Supreme Beef Exhibit is a great honour... we will definitely be coming back to try and do it again, don't you worry,” said Mr and Mrs Reid.

Additionally, the Hordern Perpetual Trophy winners, Venturon Livestock of Boyup Brook and Franco & Company Pty Ltd of Loomberah, each walked away with $7,500, proudly sponsored by Elders.

Steven Franco of Franco & Company remarked on the strong sense of camaraderie shared among all exhibitors.

“For them (Venturon Livestock), it’s a massive trip to get here and it involves a huge amount of effort, and they do that year in and year out. They are a lovely family, and we are really happy to share this wonderful experience with them” said Steven Franco.

The RAS would like to congratulate all exhibitors on their outstanding efforts and continued dedication to the RAS and its mission of celebrating and showcasing Australian agriculture.
