ACCIONA Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman Award alumni to reunite for Pearl Picnic Celebration

Posted on 07 AUGUST 2026

Alumni of the ACCIONA Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman Award are invited to attend this year’s Pearl Picnic, an event that brings together women involved in the Show movement throughout NSW to reconnect, share their stories, and celebrate the program’s 64-year legacy.

Following the success of the inaugural Pearl Picnic in 2024, this year’s event will be held on 9th September at 1.30pm, and will be hosted by the West Wyalong Show Society as part of its 125th annual show.

West Wyalong Show Society Secretary, Cat Heslop, said the committee are delighted to be able to continue the tradition to celebrate past, present & future participants of the Young Woman award.

“We’re excited to be hosting the Pearl Picnic as part of the 125th West Wyalong Show,” Ms Heslop said.

“Whether you represented your local community recently or decades ago, are competing this year or in future years, we invite you to join us to reconnect, celebrate and catch up with fellow members of the Young Woman movement from across NSW”.

The ACCIONA Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman Award is an annual competition that takes place across the state in various levels, starting at local agricultural shows before advancing to regional zones and ending at a state level in Sydney, during the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The competition recognises and celebrates the vital contributions of women aged 18-26 from rural, regional and remote NSW, offering a unique opportunity for both professional and personal development, with contestants assessed on their general and rural knowledge, community and volunteer involvement, public speaking, presentation skills and personal goals.

“Having been involved in the program myself some years ago, I know it’s about so much more than a competition. It gives young women the confidence to step outside their comfort zone, develop new skills, become ambassadors for their local communities and build friendships that last well beyond the competition”, Ms Heslop said.

Alumni planning to attend the Pearl Picnic are requested to RSVP in advance via the West Wyalong Show website to assist with catering arrangements. Attendees do not need a separate ticket for the event, with access included as part of their Show gate entry ticket.
