Donated By: Anonymously donated in 1988 and originally awarded for Supreme Burmese Cat. First presented in 1989 by the Tomahawk Committee, it commemorates Tomahawk, the first Burmese Cat brought to Australia, the founding father of today's Burmese breed. Tomahawk was imported by GG Allen (founding President of the Siamese Cat Society) and three other Siamese breeders, Mrs M Helsham and Mrs E Henry (both Shorthair Judges) and Mrs D Abbott. He was imported in the late fifties, and is almost certainly on the pedigree of most Burmese who have won the trophy, since he was for a long time the only male used in experimental Burmese breeding in NSW. He was a strong English-bred male with a sound but very dark coat, good eye colour and a remarkably sweet nature. Tomahawk was his only name - he had no prefix. Until 2017 this trophy alternated between Best Burmese Kitten and Best Burmese Cat - from 2017 it will no longer alternate.
