Donated By: Donated by the Schmidt Family to commemorate Trevor & Rudolph Schmidt’s contribution to the RAS and first presented in 2018. Roy Trevor (Trevor) Schmidt was a RAS Councillor from 1963 and President from 1988 to 1995. He was chair of the Cattle, Executive and Agricultural Societies Committees and also served on the Horse, Fodder, House, Finance, Agricultural Societies, Chairmen and Wine Committees as well as multiple sub-committees. Trevor’s father, Rudolph (Dolf) Schmidt was also a RAS Councillor from 1946, he became Assistant Ringmaster in 1948 until 1953 and Vice President from 1960 to 1962. Both father and son generously gave both time and resources to the RAS over more than half a century. As president, Trevor Schmidt played an integral role in negotiations with the NSW Government to relocate the Showground to Homebush Bay. Under Schmidt’s leadership, the Society saw major expansion of its year-round exhibition business at the showground.
