McMurchie Clydesdale Stud was established in 1977 and has been exhibiting Led Clydesdales at the Sydney Royal Easter Show since 1980. McMurchie bred horses and their progeny have been highly successful at the Sydney Royal, taking out the Championship Stallion or Mare Classes on 11 occasions and the Reserve Championship on 12 occasions. Their passion for and commitment to continually improving the breed is seen in the McMurchie Stud’s importation of three Clydesdale stallions from Scotland and two from New Zealand. These stallions have made a significant contribution to the breeding of Clydesdale horses in Australia. Horses owned and bred at the McMurchie Stud have won the prestigious Annaburne Cup for Females 2yrs and over on 6 occasions. They won the Cup outright in 2000 and converted it to a Perpetual Cup from that time.
