A clear glass wine ewer with silver mounts of baluster form, the conical neck applied with sterling silver mounts decorated with Celtic design bands above a saw pierced apron, fitted with a scroll handle with a bearded male mask in relief, raised on a circular oak stand with applied sterling silver band. Maker Thomas Creswick (bell mark) circa 1870.

Dan Murphy’s is an Australian retail chain owned by Woolworths, established in 1952 by Daniel Francis Murphy who wanted to revolutionise the way liquor was sold in Australia. He had a passion for wine and was determined to offer the most extensive range, becoming one of the first importers of wine to Australia as well as supporting the growing Australian wine industry.
