Careers and Volunteering

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is a dynamic and diverse place to work. Whether it’s staging Australia’s largest event, the Sydney Royal Easter Show, hosting major events and exhibitions at Sydney Showground, or running RAS Foundation or Education programs that support and develop agriculture in Australia, we work hard to be the best at what we do.

The people who work at the RAS believe in the mission and value working with like-minded people. It’s not just a job, it’s a strong commitment to supporting, showcasing and celebrating agriculture through competitions, events, and practical financial support.

Being part of the iconic team that has shaped Australian agriculture since 1822, and that continues to advance modern, ethical and sustainable agriculture, supporting the families and communities that work hard to keep Australian food and fibre some of the best in the world, is something we all love to be part of! It is always an exciting time to join the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW!

Whether you are looking to engage in a short-term interim position or build a long-term career, the RAS has opportunities like nowhere else.

With a team of over 150 permanent staff and an diverse pool of casual staff who are brought on specifically for the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show and select year-round Sydney Showground events, the RAS invites you to Work With Us!

At the RAS, we understand how important and helpful it is to get hands-on experience when beginning your career. The Sydney Royal Easter Show Internship Program offers essential practical media experience, vital networking opportunities, and potential employment pathways for third or fourth-year University students studying Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism.

This is a unique and fun opportunity to get ‘behind-the-scenes’ of the Show, see how it is run, and gain professional experience in the workplace. Interns will be based onsite in the media centre, working alongside a team of media and PR professionals, to provide support in managing media and drafting media materials for this year’s Show.

Applications for the 2024 internship program are now open. If you meet the study criteria above and are interested in applying, please email to be sent further details.

Volunteers are an integral part of the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Previous Shows have seen around 500 guest services volunteers work across a variety of areas including customer service, children's activities and patron engagement. Without volunteers generously devoting their time to the Show, it wouldn't be the successful event that it is today.

We commence recruitment of our volunteers in early January - February each year. Roles are varied and can include ushers, information agents, and children’s activities assistants.

If you're interested in volunteering at Australia's largest annual ticketed event, we'd love to have you on board. Please visit the official event volunteer webpage for information on how to apply.
