Sydney Royal School Meat Bird Pairs Competition

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing impact of COVID19, the 2021 Sydney Royal School Meat Bird Pairs Competition is cancelled.

What the Competition involves:

The Sydney Royal School Meat Bird Pairs Competition will run as a trial at your school before the Sydney Royal Easter Show and culminate at the Show by exhibiting your birds.

Competing Schools will receive a batch of day old chicks that will be dispatched to a school collection centre.

Schools are then required to rear the chicks and prepare the best two (2) females and two (2) males to compete at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The Competition is judged by experts of the commercial poultry meat industry and consists of three (3) components:

  1. Presentation of Exhibits: Live Competition of Meat Bird Pairs - best male pair and best female pair to be exhibited per school
  2. Carcase Component: Meat Bird Pairs birds are processed (organised by the Sydney Royal Easter Show) and carcases are judged to commercial standards
  3. Project Component - students are asked to create a Powerpoint presentation detailing how the meat birds were raised and prepared for the Show.
