Although Angora goats were first imported to NSW in 1823 it wasn’t until 1869, they were judged and that was in the sheep competition. Goat fleece was judged in 1876, in the sheep competition but in 1938 goats, at last, had their own competition. For the first thirty-three years, it was dairy goats only, but the increase in goat breeds and the boom in goat farming saw the reintroduction of Angora and the introduction of Boer and Mohair goats.

For the first time, Mini Goats will be judged this year, joining almost 1000 entries across all classes in the Sydney Royal Goat Show.
