Horticulture – growing an edible garden: to celebrate the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables the RAS workshop will focus on the awareness and importance of fruits and vegetables in human nutrition, health and food security.
The health benefits of a diet full of fruits and vegetables are well known and during the workshop we will show you how to create, maintain and grow an edible garden at home or school and how to use the fresh produce in a variety of recipes and cuisines. We will also discuss the year-round planting calendar focussing on seasonal treats. This is a hands on, interactive workshop, so expect to get your hands dirty (in person workshop only).
NSW Department of Primary Industries
This session will guide you through how to use our syllabus aligned resources and classroom activities to help students learn about food from farm to fork. Using our new STEM garden and sensory food science units, our workshop will provide teachers with the skills and knowledge to deliver a range of cost-effective classroom practical exercises with honey, olive oil, dairy products and sensor arrays.
Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia
The PIEFA session will explore the use of two new teaching resources to engage students in hands on activities. The first resource focuses on how we can assist students to develop an understanding of the importance of grains, oilseeds and pulses to our diet.
