Losing doesn’t seem to be an option for 13th Annual President’s Medal Finalists Meredith Dairy, having taken out one of five Australian Cheeseboard Perpetual Trophies at the Sydney Royal Cheese & Dairy Produce Show Awards.
Winning the Perpetual Trophy for their Goats Cheese Original Chevre and nominated as a finalist for Australia’s highest food and drink accolade, the President’s Medal, Meredith Dairy is becoming the dairy company that can do no wrong, in the eyes of Sydney Royal at least…
Having an on-farm enterprise, milking sheep and goats year-round to make specialty cheeses and yoghurts, owners Sandy and Julie Cameron have been in business for over 27 years.
“We now milk over 9,000 goats and 1,500 sheep year round, seven days a week and we have never missed a milking”, said Ms Cameron.
Whilst it is a specific product that is nominated as a finalist for the President’s Medal, the judging panel for this prestigious accolade looks more to the producer and the practice that goes into making their product, rather than the taste alone.
“(The President’s Medal) is an award for our farming systems not just the product and acknowledgment of our successful business.”
“The farm is a 4000 acre property and we have dairies as independent enterprises scattered across the farm”, said Ms. Cameron
Meredith Dairies ongoing research and development enable the continual improvement to farming systems, final products and sustainability which is clearly giving their products a different flavour and putting them on a Sydney Royal winning level.
