Hear from our 2019 Sydney Royal Beer & Cider Chair of Judges

Posted on : 17 August 2019

"The quality of this year's Beers and ciders were outstanding with many of the Judges commenting on the quality, so as you can imagine the competition was toughly fought with glasses being clinked (which signifies a gold medal) all day. We also had the largest number of entrants in the competition's history.

The highest quality Judges from around Australia, engaged in a day of critiquing styles from Classic to New world and everything in-between with each judge pawing over almost 60 beers each over 9 hours. The final round where the Champions were judged was the biggest field to date.

The Cider competition saw the addition of 2 new categories, which opened the event to more New world styles whilst keeping in line with the more traditional styles. Again judges were extremely impressed with the calibre of entries and it was a good challenging day."
