RAS President's Medal

Since 2006, the RAS of NSW President’s Medal has recognised excellence in Australian produce. Champions representing the best of the best from Sydney Royal shows focussing on fine food and beverages (Spring Fine Food, Summer Fine Food, Cheese & Dairy Produce, Wine, Beer & Cider, and Chocolate shows) are nominated to enter the President’s Medal Competition where the field is narrowed to just a handful of finalists.

Finalists undergo a rigorous independent review of their business model to assess their social, economic and environmental impact. It’s this triple bottom line audit that makes the President’s Medal award the most unique and prestigious in the country.

Competitors can be assured of unbiased, expert and ethical judging - the hallmarks of any Sydney Royal competition. Simon Marnie, Chair of Judges, has been a President’s Medal judge since the competition’s inauguration. He will be supported by Ed Halmagyi whose cooking career spans more than 20 years and two continents, and Michael Bullen whose extensive career in primary industries and forestry has seen him tasked with working to strike the right balance of social, economic and environmental outcomes.

Prizes for this competition include $5,000 cash for the winner, a two-hour strategy session with trends reporter and business consultant Michael McQueen and the opportunity to commit their story to celluloid with Jason van Genderen of Pocket Film Academy an award-winning director, producer and cinematographer.

The winner will be announced during an awards ceremony in November. Tickets to this event will be available for purchase on this webpage later in the year.

The 2016 President’s Medal Schedule tells you everything you need to know about the Competition and will be published on this webpage shortly.
