Knowing and Growing
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW together with the NSW Department of Primary Industries is creating specially designed teacher professional development workshops. These workshops will introduce a series of hands on activities, strategies and resources to support the focus on agriculture in the classroom. With mandatory agricultural components being rolled out in the school curriculum this year, the Knowing and Growing program aims to support teachers and prepare them to teach about food and fibre.
Workshops will range from hands on activities and STEM participation to newly developed FREE resources in a 'plate to paddock' experience and student designed projects that explore different primary industries.
The initiative has been supported by the Primary Industries Education Foundation, Australia (PIEFA), a national not-for-profit organisation supported by primary industries, education sector and the Australian Government to improve learning about food and fibre production in Australian Schools.
