Judging Begins today at the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food Show

Posted on : 30 August 2018

Winter’s all but done, but our farmers and Fine Food producers aren’t.

Now watch them bring in their best in the annual series of the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food Competitions.

Yes it has been another tough winter, but our primary producers are a resilient bunch and we’ll get to see just how resilient in the upcoming Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food series of competitions at The Stables, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

Over almost 200 years our farmers and food producers have overcome drought, floods, pest plagues and fires to pass on world-envied produce.

But to be frank, they simply like competing against each other. It is good for business and the time honoured Sydney Royal competitions provide the perfect platform for them to do it.

The prestige of winning a Sydney Royal Medal is appreciated by food critics nationally and allows exhibitors to demonstrate that their product is the ‘best of the best’ among their peers, with medals adorning winning products for up to three (3) years.

“It is getting tougher every year on our Judges as the standard of products they are charged with judging through the most rigorous process in the country are just getting better and better,” said Chair of the Fine Food Committee, Sydney Royal Fine Food program Lachlan Bowtell.

“We are fortunate in Australia to have among the world’s best and most innovative Ag and Food Manufacturing industries that are delivering consistent food products every day to an even more demanding customer.

“It's a real privilege to be involved in this world class program. Whether the entrants secure a highly prized medal or not, the feedback they receive sees many progressive entrants take this on board and return the following year with an even better product.

“The Sydney Royal Fine Food Show Medal is a symbol of excellence and definitely has a massive impact on those businesses that are the engine room of the food industry,” Lachlan Bowtell said.

Judging will commence today and run until Thursday 13 September. Medal and Trophy recipients of the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food Show will be awarded at the prestigious Sydney Royal Taste of Excellence Awards, Friday 21 September.
