Entries have opened today for the 2019 Sydney Royal Cheese & Dairy Produce Show with Chair of Judges Mark Livermore urging producers to enter despite the tough drought conditions they are currently facing.
The Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce Show is a time-honoured annual competition celebrating excellence within the Australian Dairy Industry. It also helps to set acceptable standards within the dairy sector.
Held in the second week of February, the competition usually attracts over 900 entries across 104 classes.
Categories range from Milk classes (including goat, sheep, buffalo and camel milk) through to Cheese, Butter, Cream, Ice Cream, Yoghurt and Dessert.
Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Chair of Judges Mark Livermore has acknowledged the tough conditions producers continue to face, but believes the Sydney Royal Competition brings the community together to demonstrate the excellent quality still being produced.
“The Australian Dairy Industry is suffering from the effects of the widespread drought impacting dairy regions and this show is an opportunity to demonstrate that despite the adversity, we are still producing outstanding products,” Mark Livermore said.
“These awards provide a real identifiable recognition of product quality, which they can use to access new markets.
Not only does the annual Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce Show celebrate excellence within the sector, it also encourages innovation and will again include a class for products under development.
“Feedback from Judges offers a real launching pad for future development and growth”, Mark Livermore added.
The Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce Show will continue to expand and support innovation in 2019 by providing a platform to showcase the quality of the Australian Dairy Industry.
Judging will take place at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park 11-14 February 2019 with awards being presented Monday 18 February.
