2019 Statistics & Highlights

This year the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) taught and inspired more than 12,000 students, worked with 1,400 teachers and travelled 3,500 km to complete over 100 hrs of face to face learning.  Here are a few key facts and figures on the year that was for the RAS - 

Education:

  • 12,000 students attended events, excursions and farm days run by the RAS Education team

  • 1,400 teachers attended excursions, TPDs and farm days

  • 100 hours of Education was delivered face to face at career and excursion events

  • 200 teachers attended the RAS Professional Development Events to help teachers learn how to teach agriculture

  • 60 hours of Professional Development program was delivered face to face

  • 3,500 km travelled to visit regional and rural communities to deliver teacher professional development opportunities

  • The largest Agricultural Careers Expo in Australia, AgVision 2019, saw an increase from 700 students in 2017 to over 1,200 in 2019

Competitions:

  • 5,500 entries received across all Wine, Dairy and Fine Food Competitions

  • 30,000 entries received across the Sydney Royal Easter Show

RAS Foundation:

  • Total of $1.2 million given to regional and rural NSW Including:

  • $800,000 worth of Christmas Toys and Kitchen Goods across the state

  • $300,000 worth of Scholarships

  • $90,000 in Community Grants

  • $40,000 in Community Kitchen Grants
