Australasian Animal Registry

The Australasian Animal Registry (AAR) is Australia's largest and most comprehensive not for profit animal registration and recovery service, with a database of over 800,000 animals from across Australia and New Zealand.

While mainly focussed on 'companion animals' (dogs and cats), the registry also has records on parrots, horses, zoo animals and even ferrets if they have a microchip. All have been implanted with an identification data chip.

Regarded by many as the most reliable animal-recovery database in the Australasian region, the AAR provides an accurate and independent service designed to assist in the speedy recovery of registered animals.

Authorised users are the only people allowed access to animal record information and these include local councils, animal welfare agencies and veterinary practitioners. A secure system of ID numbers and staff training ensures the integrity of this process.

The service provides access to the AAR 24 hours a day, seven days a week via Internet and telephone for all authorised users, clients and the general public. A toll-free number is provided for veterinarians and also clients in New Zealand.

Toll free numbers are provided to authorised users and clients around Australia and New Zealand.
